Foreign students at an annual festival
On 14th September foreign students studying at the Conservatoire visited annual festival “One day of a medieval town”. This year the festival program included traditional master classes, visiting archaeological site and theatrical reconstructions of 13th century life.
The ancient Ukek was a large trade center of the Volga region. Today it is called “the Volga Troy” and considered to be one of the most important medieval settlements first mentioned by Marco Polo.
“I was very glad to see the place visited by Marco Polo. I’m really impressed with the festival. I’ve never thought how difficult the life of people in the Middle Ages was. They had to produce everything themselves, from ropes to dishes. That’s amazing!” said Rodrigo Manzanal, a Spanish student of the Conservatoire preparatory department.
